Girl, Interrupted Chapters 3&4 Summary
Susanna Kaysen was admitted to
McLean hospital for trying to kill herself, dealing with depression and
schizophrenia. She was very suicidal. She wasn’t really happy in life so she
tried many suicidal attempts and also ran away from home. In the result of all
this she was lead to staying at a boarding household. She tried to kill herself by taking 50
aspirins. Like who wants to die taking aspirins. Taking so many aspirins can be
bad for your health. On the other hand, Susanna friend Polly was also trying to
kill herself. But it was way different
from what Susanna tried doing to herself. Polly turned herself on fire. Like
from head to toe .. on fire. She had used gasoline to do the job. I think
Susanna at first didn’t like to be there at that hospital.
However, she was more
confused at the fact that Polly would do that to herself. She thought to
herself like what kind of person is capable of turning themselves on fire. Like
who does that, to just be really crazy to do that. Polly was a mess. But she
was also a very happy girl. She always had time for people. Polly was kind and
comforting to those who were unhappy at the moment. Which was very sweet of
her. Even though she did something really bad to herself she also had a special
place in her heart to be nice to other people. And to make other people happy.
Which seems to be really great! Finally, there’s a huge different between Polly
and Susanna attempts to kill themselves. Susanna is a schizophrenic person who
was happy one minute then flips out and starts to act like a different person.
And Polly was different she was happy and wanted other people to be happy.
